We haven’t sat on the sofa since you left. It was yours. We can’t touch it. For breakfast we all eat Weetabix with box-milk. No one has been to the shop. No one has left the house. There are tears at the bottom of the stairs each morning. We are determined to succeed for you. I will change my life and dedicate it to your invisibility. I’ll stop drinking and smoking because I want you to be proud of me. When I want to fight I’ll step backwards, when I want to shout I’ll chew my fist. When I find love I’ll love completely.
I will remember you prostrate on the living room floor, on a tartan blanket, resting your head on Dad’s lap.
So touching, so beautiful…
